Pre-Workout Meal By Jason
Ferruggia A good pre workout meal should be something that is very easily digestible, that enters your bloodstream rapidly and doesn?t cause any gas, bloating or discomfort. You want to be ready to go and amped up when you walk in the gym; not sluggish, bloated and weighed down. I recommend eating a solid meal about ninety minutes to two hours before training. This should consist of some light protein like eggs and some clean, slow burning carbs like oatmeal with fruit. Nothing too heavy, you don?t want to be full after this meal; just content. Be sure to eat your protein first in order to keep your energy up. When you have carbs without protein you risk getting tired. That is because when you eat there are two amino acids in a race towards your brain. One is called tyrosine and the other is tryptophan. When you ingest your protein calories first, tyrosine wins this race and thus sends the signal to your brain for you to be alert and energetic. When you eat carbs first, tryptophan wins and you end up with no energy, wanting to take a nap. So always eat your protein before your carbs in your pre workout meal. If you are really trying to build muscle and gain weight rapidly you could even have another small protein and carb drink after your pre workout meal, about fifteen to thirty minutes before your actual training session. This could consist of some whey or rice protein and either grape juice, maltodextrin, waxy maize or dextrose. Around fifteen to twenty five grams of protein and twenty to forty grams of carbs would be perfect here. This will get in your blood stream rapidly and help elevate your insulin levels. Insulin is probably the most powerful anabolic (muscle building) hormone there is so having high levels of it around your workout is just what you want. This fast acting protein and carb drink will also help to blunt the output of cortisol (a stress hormone that destroys muscle and leads to increases in bodyfat). Not only that, but it will provide you with a nice energy blast throughout your workout and help keep your work capacity elevated toward the end of the session. If you are on the road an in a rush, with no time to grab a solid meal or mix up a shake I suggest that you have some meal replacement bars on you at all times. The Greens Plus bar with protein is a good one as are the Raw Organic Bars and the Raw Revolution Bars. Cliff bars also make a good pre workout meal in a pinch. If you don?t have those and need something to get you through your workout I would suggest having a piece or two of fruit, at the very least. Running on empty is a prescription for a horrible workout. Finally, if you need a little caffeine pick me up I recommended using green tea instead of coffee. It provides far less caffeine and is loaded with anti oxidants. If you are a big coffee drinker you should try to slowly wean yourself off of caffeine so that eventually the small blast provided by green tea is all you need. Train hard,

Top Blogger: City Pass Offers Great Price for Popular Attractions If you're planning a visit to Seattle Washington and will be spending a few days in town, you might seriously consider purchasing a city pass. This pass will allow you to experience several of the more popular attractions this great city has to offer at a fraction of their regular prices. It will also allow you daytime (6 am through 7 pm daily) transportation through the cities Metro system. This pass is good for nine days from its first use and provides you with several options for activities during your stay. The first activity offered by these passes is a visit to the Museum of Flight. Watch in amazement as the history of flight comes to life right before your very eyes. From a tour of the original Air Force one to flight simulators of modern day jet flights this museum has a little bit to offer every kid, big and small, in your group. Enjoy the many exhibits and family activities that are available here and have fun exploring the history of flight both personal and military in out country. This is something I would recommend even if it weren't part of the pass and is well worth a visit. The Seattle Harbor tour is the next event on this list. This tour is offered by Argosy Cruises and will probably be a highlight of your time in Seattle. If not a highlight, then perhaps the boost you needed to try some of the more elaborate tours that Argosy has to offer. This tour lasts about an hour long and provides a tour of the bay while pointing out some of the stunning scenery that surrounds Seattle. You do have the option of upgrading your cruise to one of the others offered by Argosy for an additional fee. If you've never been in open water before, I recommend starting with a smaller cruise and seeing how your sea legs (and stomach) measure up before embarking on a longer or dinner cruise. Next is a favorite for children of all ages-yes, moms and dads count. This is a trip to the Woodland Park Zoo. This zoo has won awards for its natural looking exhibits and delights guests with them as well. This zoo is much more than lions, tigers, and bears. This zoo has great deal to offer any family who would make a day of it, and I seriously recommend that that is precisely what you do. While you're there, you might want to step over to the rose garden next door (the rose garden is free of charge but quite beautiful) and enjoy the beauty and aroma the roses present. Next is the Pacific Science Center. From video games and laser shows to fascinating science exhibits the Pacific Science Center really is a fun place to visit. While you're there you might want to check out the IMAX theatre and see what is playing. Among the permanent exhibits is a Dinosaur exhibit from the Mesozoic Era, a tropical butterfly house, an Insect Village, and a saltwater Tide Pool where little ones can see and touch many of the creatures that can be found in the Puget Sound. And finally, the Seattle Aquarium, which really needs no explanation. Explore life under the sea and the many salt water and fresh water creatures that can be found in and around the Puget Sound. This will be a highlight for everyone in your group I can almost guarantee. If any of these or most of these is appealing to you and/or those you are traveling with, then purchasing a city pass is probably a wise investment. Even if you don't visit all of the attractions, you can save money by visiting a few. PPPPP (word count 631)
